AGORA

Agora is a group of festival-like or fair-like or expo-like events related to my medley of pursuits and interests.
What sparked my desire to create these experiences was Bo Diddley Plaza in Gainesville, FL. Bo Diddley Plaza is an outdoor event space situated right in the middle of downtown and is accessible to all, and thus reminds me of the agora town squares—found throughout ancient Greece—that were known to be used by the public for all kinds of purposes, including arts, trade, and civic organizing.
Agora also somewhat has a similar spelling and sound to agorɔ (pronounced ah-GROH), a word from the Twi language of Ghana. Agorɔ means ‘to play’ or ‘entertainment’, therefore I hope for my Agoras to serve the public as physical spaces for gathering AND as experiences that embody the very act and spirit of play.
